Every year in October, visiting my home in Assam has been a ritual. The reason is to celebrate Durga Puja with family. And also the weather is pleasant by then. You don’t have to worry about sweating out or taking a shawl while flaunting the newly bought saree at puja pandals.

However, for a change I decided to go home in January to celebrate Magh Bihu. Needless to say, it was an affair to remember for life. From visiting tea gardens to cooking on mud stove and meeting new people, each and every moment was like a dream.

During my stay, I was invited by Radisson Blu, Guwahati to experience their food and hospitality. And here I present you a detailed review of the stay.

Location

radisson

Nestled near the Lokpriya Gopinath Bodoloi International Airport and on NH 37 connecting Guwahati to Meghalaya, Radisson Blu is located where it should be for business purpose. Since, there’s no other 5 star hotel closer to the airport, business travellers or tourists would prefer to head over to Radisson without a second thought. Plus, being situated on the main road, transportation is easy — be it bus, taxi, or auto.

Stay

room radisson

Surrounded by greeneries, the hotel features 196 cotemporary elegant rooms with each one having an en-suite bathrooms, ergonomic work desks, LED TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, electronic safes, tea and coffee makers, and well stocked minibars.

The Standard Room we stayed at had walls painted in subtle colours, a king-size bed, an armchair, drop-down lights, a large work desk with a chair, a walk-in wardrobe, a spacious bathroom with toiletries, and thermostat-controlled air-conditioning and heating. You also get buffet breakfast, newspapers, and water bottles complimentary. Sounds good?

What I loved most was the view from the window — the green tress, birds flying high in the sky, and the rising and setting of the sun.

While the Standard and Superior rooms are almost similar, the Business Class Rooms, situated on the ninth and tenth floors, offer access to the business class lounge with an array of facilities. Here, you not only get a complimentary breakfast, but also will be offered everyday fruit platter, return airport transfer, and welcome drink on arrival.

The Studio Suites are best for corporate travellers. From the bathrooms with a rainfall shower and a separate bathtub to king bedrooms, these suites are very, very stylish yet homely.

My personal favourite was the Executive Suite. Featuring a king bedroom with separate lounge and living areas with access to the business class lounge, it has all the general amenities plus a bottle of wine on arrival.

If your family or friend circle is big enough, go for the Deluxe Suite. With segregated sleeping, living and dining areas that make for an ideal home to small meetings and private dinners, you will love everything about the room. Rest, the amenities remain the same.

Eat

cafe b-you

With three eclectic food and beverage outlets and an alfresco seating, you can eat your heart out here.

At the all-day dining, Café B-You offers interactive world and local cuisines. Don in red hues and wooden work, the ambience is absolutely stunning. Dig into their signatures such as Cold Pasta Salad, Fried Prawns, Aloo Parantha and Sabji, Pork with Lai Xaak, and Rogan Josh. If you’re health conscious, they have an amazing array of smoothies, juices, shakes, and salads.

While I had my breakfast and lunch at Café B-You, I decided to try out Asian delicacies for dinner at Nest Asia. I loved their Chicken Satay, Prawn Dumplings, Thai Green Curry served with sticky rice, Pad Thai Noodles, and Fried Ice Cream. I paired my meal with a Cosmopolitan, which I felt could have been better!

For lovers of sweets and savouries, Dolce has everything for you. I tried out their Raspberry Cake and White Chocolate Pastry – both were equally nice with the right amount of sweetness.

Reign, the lobby bar and lounge features an elegant seating. If you wish to sit back and relax, sipping on some fine drinks paired with delectable grubs, this is the ideal spot. While I loved the mocktails at Reign, the sangria was not up to the mark.

Relax

spa

What do you wish while on a break? Relaxation, right? Take a swim at the breathtaking outdoor swimming pool or sip on their lovely drinks as you relax at the adjoining deck.

Although, I did not take any service, the staff claimed that they have on offer the best traditional and international treatments. They also have a well-equipped gymnasium to ensure that your business stays and leisure breaks are always refreshing and rejuvenating.

Meet & Greet

xobha

The hotel claims to be the only property in NE to feature eight spectacular indoor and outdoor banquet and meeting spaces, and a huge parking area with valet service.

Xobha: This conference space can accommodate up to 600 guests for dinner and 275 in a classroom configuration. For smaller events, Xobha can also be divided into three halls using sound-proof partitions.

Aador: This classroom set-up space can accommodate up to 75 guests.

Business Centre: An ideal spot for boardroom meetings, interviews and intimate business meetings with four to 12 guests. The focus on comfort and convenience imbues the space with a sense of calm.

Conclusion

Overall, I had a beautiful experience. From spending balmy evening beside the pool to sleeping for long hours, I did what I love doing the most.

Coming to food, I totally loved what was served to me and the smooth service at Café B-You, on the other hand, Nest Asia, I felt could have been better.

Ask me if I shall recommend this property to others, the answer will be yes — 1) The location is excellent 2) The rooms are beautiful and comfortable 3) Serene and peaceful 4) Very warm hospitality 5) Decent food.
